Best Vegetarian Burger of 2012

A detour to Kingston led me to a little hole-in-the-wall bakery and cafe called Pan Chancho (http://www.panchancho.com/cafe/). It had a great honey feel and a gorgeous shade covered outdoor cafe. I was pleasantly surprised to find the black bean vegetarian burger on their menu, and even more surprised when it quickly became apparent to me that it was the best vegetarian burger I'd eaten all year!

The breakdown:
1) a crisp and well seasoned patty (yes, it was a little mushy when you chomped down, but the crispest one I've ever had and unlike most vegetarian bean burgers it didn't fall apart.
2) aged cheddar melted...
3) house made coleslaw that was lightly creamy and had a lime twist giving it a fresh Southern tang
4) a thick juicy slice of an heirloom tomato
5) chipotle mayo on the side (I didn't even touch this)
6) a house made pumpkin bun with pumpkin seeds, does it get any better than homemade bread?

Now you would think that all of these amazing components would satisfy the average burger-lover, but when I saw you could get a side of their in-house guacamole with cilantro, lime and tomato, I couldn't resist...

So, 7) huge side of creamy home made guacamole

Put it all together and you get the Best Vegetarian Burger of 2012. I will be back soon Kingston!
